Criticism behind UN Agencies Failings
United Nations also called UN is an intergovernmental organization that has been there for a very long time. The organization exists solemnly to promote international cooperation but also it has the mandate to ensure that they create and maintain international order. The world is a large and complex place that cannot be manned by one organization and that is why there are UN agencies, organizations that work under the umbrella of the United Nations. For many years now, the UN has made a lot successes in ensuring that people are catered for on equal grounds in the world by coming up with different means of facilitating search issues. However, for some years now, there has been a lot of issues surrounding the UN agencies. This has been a big blow on UN leading to many failures that can be accounted for. Behind every success and feel it is a reason behind it. Given in this article some criticism on the failure of UN agencies.
Most of the failures that UN agencies are experiencing today are as a result of change in leadership. When leadership keeps on changing at a very short time, it means that policies keep on changing because every one want to leave a legacy and this becomes a bad situation to implement any policy. What happens in such situations is that policies are implemented halfway and there is no success in such a situation. Another contributing factor to the failures UN agencies are experiencing is not the change of policy but poor implementation of the policy. Some policies are not implemented as they should be while others gain a lot of focus and therefore the imbalance leads to a failure of one agency where the other one is implemented appropriately. Also, when it comes to leadership, there has been a lot of issues when it comes to ideologies with people having different views on different things and how they should be handled therefore leading to the negligence of some issues where leaders don’t come to an agreement. When people don’t agree on specific missions, then it becomes hard to implement anything in the long run.
There has also been a lot of issues when it comes to the crime levels across the world. Specific areas that UN agencies have failed include the things like child abuse and rape, terrorism, massacre, and this has led to the increase in refugee crisis across the world. Resources have been an issue when it comes to catering for such issues such as dealing with the refugee crisis which is led to the failure of UN agencies.
